Teaching

I’m available as a guest speaker, scholar-in-residence, 1:1 educator, and group facilitator. I teach on a wide range of topics, but most often about Jewish perspectives on health and healing; death, dying and grief; and finding your own way into Jewish texts and traditions. I am also a trained facilitator for: Death over Dinner - Jewish Edition; What Matters - Caring Conversations about End of Life; and Kirva’s Fight Like a Mensch.

In my teaching, I seek to cultivate conversations between Jewish text and traditions, social science, and the experiences of our own lives. Because each of us brings our unique life stories and perspectives to these conversations, I always learn as much from my students as I think they do from me. I know that our learning has been successful if we all come away with a new way of thinking about something we thought we already understood.

I regularly teach in community, congregational, and academic, forums. Recently, this has included: Jewish Learning Collaborative (powered by Mem Global); Center for Pastoral Education at The Jewish Theological Seminary; Roots and Roads Community Hospice Foundation; Shomer Collective; Siegal Lifelong Learning, Case Western Reserve University; Tucson Jewish Museum and Holocaust Center; and Congregation Anshei Israel (Tucson, AZ).
